Remenham Race report

By Kate • Jan 28th, 2010 • Category: regattas

By Joanne Harris
On a surprisingly warm winter’s morning the seven founding Remenham clubs boated their eights for a head race from the Stag Brewery in Chiswick to Hammersmith Bridge.
Thames was, naturally, the largest entrant with nine crews – three men’s, three women’s, novice men and novice women, and a men’s veteran [...]

Remenham head 2010

By Kate • Jan 20th, 2010 • Category: regattas

So, it’s the most miserable week of the year – ages until payday, no bank holidays in sight, weather’s crap and we’ve just sold Cadbury’s to the yanks.  Still, the first sign of spring is on the horizon…the Remenham head is this Sunday 24th January.  The racing will be from Chiswick to Hammersmith, which is [...]

By Kate • Nov 26th, 2009 • Category: regattas

A charming weather forecast for the this weekend can mean only one thing… it’s finally got cold enough for the Scullers Head.  Carlotta has very kindly put together a list of Thames entries for minimal effort on the part of supporters.  Get it here.
There get plenty of warm, water-proof clothes here.

Fours Head 2009 cancelled and the Vet Fours Head

By Kate • Nov 15th, 2009 • Category: regattas

The weather won this weekend as the 500+ crews were sent home without a race.  Gale force winds and rain left the river unrowable on Saturday.
Happily the Vet Fours Head went ahead as planned and our men’s vet B 4- took overall third place, just losing out on their pennant to a London crew that [...]

Peterborough Party People

By Kate • Aug 7th, 2009 • Category: regattas

The big pole-climbing, short-sprint racing, weed-avoiding, last chance of the season to get your pot party that is Peterborough Regatta takes place this weekend.  With the rather tragic withdrawal of all of the mixed events a whole bunch of our entries were disappointed, a large contingent are still heading north tomorrow morning.
Good luck!

Debs’ final hour victory

By Kate • Aug 3rd, 2009 • Category: regattas

Deb Mallinson took victory in the lightweight single scull at the Home Countries International Regatta just over a week ago.  A hard-fought race the week before at Nat Champs had Debs leading her Scottish counterpart through to the 1500m mark, where conditions and some recent, big changes to her technique caught up to her and [...]

A promising run at Molesey Regatta

By Ralph • Jul 21st, 2009 • Category: regattas

It’s been interesting to see the Novvie IM3 4+ crew develop as both oarspersons and men over the last few months. The Ergonator has become a Teutonic comedic god, knows 3 jokes now and is slowly mastering the basics of sarcasm. Tom’s new nutty boy haircut reflects the Top Gun (ok, short-haul pilot) he has [...]
