Charlotte says, “Marathon was good… I beat Jordan, that’s the main thing. But I did have a bit of a Jordan moment in that I thought it was a square 40 Kms, so that extra 2.195 kms took me a bit by surprise. I ran the whole way (bar the bottlenecks) and finished in 4hrs 21 mins and 24 seconds! Beating Steve Redgrave’s time (although he probably did BBC interviews on the way). Got a little bit of sun stroke and some achey legs, but will be fit to row any minute now…”

As we roll to the end of January it’s all downhill now to the big head races, training camp and then summer racing… although summer still seems a long way off.

This year we have been very lucky with our coaching team, welcoming a whole bunch of new coaches to the club. Elise Laverick (double Olympic bronze medallist), ever loyal to Thames, has joined, along with GB squad friends, Al Heathcote (Olympic silver medallist), Carla Ashford and Baz Moffat (both world bronze medallists). All of our squads have benefited from their extensive knowledge of rowing-specific training, including motivation, nutrition, weight training, stroke profiles and race preparation.

We have also welcomed Will Robins as our new Juniors coach.

These are all in addition to our established seasoned and committed coaching team.

A chance to win some money and to support fundraising efforts for our fast approaching 150th anniversary in 2010.

Sarah Park, TRC Captain in 2007/08, won the annual £500 draw, at the Annual Dinner on 5th December. Emma James, TRC Captain 2006/07 won the December draw.

The TRC 150 lottery
A chance to win some money and to support fundraising efforts for our fast approaching 150th anniversary in 2010.

The 150 Club is a private club lottery open to all TRC members. The money raised will go towards the boathouse redevelopment programme and meeting some of the costs of the 150th projects to celebrate this major event in our history.

150 CLUB WINNERS!
December 2008 – Emma James

2008 Annual Prize winner – Sarah Park

Want to join in?
The idea is simple. Every month you pay £12.50 by standing order into the 150 Club account (12 x £12.50 = £150) or you can make out a cheque once a year for £150 to be automatically entered into the prize draws. There will be a monthly prize draw for £150. The 150 Club will also have a grand prize draw of £500 once a year. You have to be a member of the 150 Club for a minimum of 9 months to be eligible for the big end of year draw – but if you pay for a whole year at once you can still enter!

The 150 Club will host a spring/summer annual event free to all members as a thank you for your kind support during the year.

Here’s how:
You can set up a direct debit for a monthly £12.50 or the annual amount of £150 (email James at the address below), or you can make out a cheque for £150 to the “Thames Rowing Club Development Fund”.

If you have any questions please email James Elder at secretary@thamesrc.co.uk or write c/o Thames RC, Putney Embankment, London SW15 1LB.
