Post-Henley and the tennis

I can’t bear to actually watch the tennis any more…too exciting with Rafa and Roger at 2 sets all, with Nadal having missed his championship points…oof
So back to HRR, and apologies for the repetition on Friday, apparently I spoke too soon with regards the remote posting. Anyway, the Remenham crew were knocked out by the Furnivall/Leander boat, while the Brit four were comfortably past the Russians from Dynamo Club and into Saturday. Unfortunately they were just not able to do the same against Molesey who went on to win the final against Ortner.
That left just Baz Moffat in a composite Remenham crew (Leander / Wallingford) as the only remaining Thames member in the competition…and they went on to beat the Furnivall / Leander composite in the final by 3 lengths.
Some very exciting racing in truly horrible conditions. Notably a very disappointing result for the Lea Wyfold crew who were in the lead against London on Saturday before running into the booms twice to give London the space to get past and win. Then a heartbreaking final in the Thames cup between Leander and Tideway Scullers, with Scullers chasing all the way down the course to bring it down to a canvas on the line – two very good crews.
Torrential rain and storms throughout Sunday made for a fairly miserable spectating experience but congratulations to all the winning crews.
(tennis is down to two games all in the final set and rain stops play…)
